Coughing up some research

Looks like my cold jumped over to my lungs - a little wheezing and more coughing. Not terrible - just terribly inconvenient. But I am finding some really interesting research on a new script treatment I'm writing (yes another one - you got to keep throwing stuff up on that wall until something sticks). I wish I could say I'm completely self motivated but the truth is I do better when someone gives me a theme or a premise to work with. Writing doesn't have to be lonely - you'll be surprised at what you can accomplish when the right person dangles the right carrot in front of your face.

World War Z

Somewhere along the way I got into horror movies and in turn into Zombie fiction. WORLD WAR Z is a novel written as a collection of interviews after the zombie apocalypse and has some really epic and imaginative imagery in it. But it does drag sometimes and the ending falls kind of flat. It should be interesting to see how the movie turns out.

Happy Holidays from the Team SAKI! We ended the year on a hell of a high note with the US and Japan DVD release, the Soundtrack release, and the Theatrical Screenings. SAKI, Mission Accomplished!

Thank you to all my family, friends and colleagues that attended the SAKI THE KILLER screenings. It was truly encouraging to see and hear your reactions as you came out of the theater. There was a lot of positive feedback and I felt it was a big "Mission Accomplished" in terms of creating a movie that entertained and catalyzed interesting conversations. My dad was pretty excited after watching SAKI which was important to me because, for the most part, I grew up watching movies with him. While a movie like TAKAMINE I did more for my mom, SAKI is a movie I did more for my dad. My dad ended up buying 2 copies of the SAKI DVD and it was a lot of fun watching the deleted scenes with the family. As the writer, I encourage all of you to check out the DVD extras because there are even more sub-plots that didn't make it into the theatrical cut of the film. Again thank you and I certainly look forward to sharing my next film with all of you!

Saturday's SAKI THE KILLER screening was a big success! A lot of positive feedback and encouraging compliments. Most of all it was great to see many of the SAKI cast and crew back together again. We certainly missed those that couldn't make it but we have one more action-packed screening on Sunday!

Some tips for the SAKI screening on Saturday and Sunday, make sure you give yourself enough time to find street parking along Sawtelle. And bring a coat - it can get cold in the Nuart Theater.
